Having been collaborating with the sound artist Jasmine Guffond since 2013 providing visual accompaniment to her live performances, creating music videos for her releases based on material from those performances. We have also worked on several installations. Some of them conceived by her and others being of my own initiatives.
Her approach to sound is uniquely her own and therefor not easily defined by any genre, although it could be roughly defined as somewhere between ambient electronic, minimalism and drone. My approach has always been to augment her sound using very minimal and slow elements. For me the experience falls somewhere between slightly eerie to an almost ecstatic spiritual reverie. Have experienced spiritual elation during some of the performances where my body would shake uncontrollably. Have experienced similar moments when viewing finished video pieces we have worked on together.
